Comments (-1) District Announcements Expand All Choice Enrollment Information Choice Enrollment Information The Choice Enrollment window for the 2020-2021 school year closed at 4:30 pm on Friday, Feb 7, 2020. Choice enrollment requests are now handled using the Appeal process. Please see the Choice Enrollment page for more information. 2019-2020 School Year Calendar Update The Lewis-Palmer School District Board of Education approved school year calendars during the January meeting. By selecting Calendar on our district and school websites, you may view the following changes: 2019-2020 District School Year Calendar with the following changes to account for excessive snow days so far this year: April 10, 2020, changed to a school day for all K-12 students May 8, 2020, changed to a school day for all K-12 students The 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 were also approved and are available under the Calendar tab. D38 Proposed Curriculum Review Notice Lewis-Palmer School District 38 follows Board Policy IJ for the selection of core instructional programs selected to be used for whole-class, as well as web-based programs, within the district’s schools. Core instructional programs, including digital and print text, as well as web-based programs, shall be available for inspection by students’ parents/guardians for a two-week period in a public setting. The community may access, review, and comment on the core instructional programs and books that are being considered during this period. Resources and materials for high school World History and Geography, 6-12th grade English Language Arts and 6-8th grade Math will be available for public review and comment. Materials will be available February 13, 14, 18-21, 24-27, 2020, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Lewis-Palmer School District 38 Administration Building, 146 Jefferson Street, Monument, CO 80132. If the district is closed for a weather day during the review period, then materials will be available for a make-up day on February 28, 2020. D38 Community Collaboration Events LPSD is hosting multiple community collaboration events throughout January and February. Please join us in discussing the next steps for D38. We want to hear from you. A live Thoughtexchange event will be utilized to gather and rank ideas. Small groups will be formed to address topics and generate solutions for the future of LPSD. Screenagers Next Chapter Lewis-Palmer School District 38 will be showing the award-winning documentary, Screenagers NEXT CHAPTER: Uncovering Skills for Stress Resilience, on March 11th. This is the sequel to the award-winning documentary, Screenagers. Screenagers NEXT CHAPTER examines the science behind teen’s emotional challenges, the interplay of social media, and most importantly, what can be done in our schools and homes to help teens build crucial skills for navigating stress, anxiety, and depression in our digital world. Your participation can help shape the future for our students, schools, and community. Census results assist in determining how federal funding is used throughout the country and in our communities. A census is conducted only once a decade, making participation crucial to understanding needs such as new fire departments, new roads, school funding, etc. Every household will receive an invitation to participate in the 2020 Census by April 1.
